Come and Experience our Authentic Botswana Safaris

Zimbabwe / Zambia

Botswana Explorer (AO 14)

Experience Southern Africa's largest and most authentic wilderness on our Botswana safaris. Botswana is big, untamed and teeming with wildlife. It is a country of contrasts from the sandy wastes of the Kalahari Desert, to the mysterious swamps of the Okavango Delta, to the lush flood plains of the Chobe River and the granite outcrops and Mopani Woodlands of the Tuli area, fondly known as the 'Land of the Giants'.

Day 01: Tuesday
Our Botswana safaris start on a Tuesday at 11h00. Depart Johannesburg International Airport on BP214 for the Limpopo Valley. 12h15: Arrive at Tuli, where you will be met by the management of Nitani Game Reserve and board their private aircraft for the short seven minute flight to the lodge. The lodge is situated close to the convergence of the mighty Limpopo and Shashe Rivers, which separate Botswana from South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Our Botswana Safaris are renowned for vast elephant herds, lion and cheetah. The elusive leopards as well as the 10th Century relics of the Leopard Rock people and other archaeological wonders are all to be experienced. On arrival, settle in before departing on an evening game drive in your open 4x4 vehicle manned by a highly qualified ranger-guide. Guides on our Botswana safaris have a sound knowledge of the animals, plants and archaeology of the area. On your return, a delicious dinner, complemented by fine wines, awaits you. Overnight in your chalet overlooking the river.

Day 02: Wednesday
The day is spent on game activities from drives to bush walks or exploring the fascinating area and its historic sites. Overnight in your chalet.

Day 03: Thursday
After an early morning drive and breakfast, your hosts will fly you back to the Limpopo Valley Airport to link up with your Air Botswana flight BP216 departing at 13h00 for Kasane, where our Botswana Safaris continue. Arrive at Kasane, where you will be met by lodge staff who will transport you to their lodge overlooking the majestic Chobe River. The design of this lodge reflects the bush and surrounding culture and has been designed to impact the environment as little as possible. To add to the uniqueness of our Botswana safaris, your accommodation is in uniquely furnished chalets of five star plus quality. After a light lunch you depart on a river cruise in the lodge's private boats to experience the massive elephant population, the herds of buffalo, pods of hippo and crocodile, up close and personal. This evening a gourmet dinner awaits before retiring to the sounds of the African bush. Overnight in Chobe Chilwero.

Day 04: Friday
An early morning wake up call and coffee before departing in your 4x4 for a game viewing drive in the Chobe National Park - home to four of Africa's 'Big Five'. After breakfast, enjoy the pool, relax on the comfortable decks overlooking the river or visit the quaint little town of Kasane whose residents often have to halt their vehicles to give animals the right of way. In the afternoon enjoy yet another cruise and watch the sun set over the Chobe River. Dinner and overnight.

Day 05/06: Saturdays/Sunday
After a final game drive and breakfast, depart for the airport for your light plane trip into the Delta area. This is one of the many highlights of our Botswana safaris. Landing on Chief's Island you are met by your lodge's vehicle and taken to either Chief's or Stanley's Camp. Chief's is a luxury bush lodge in the exclusive Mombo concession of the Moremi Reserve, while Stanley's is a classic styled tented safari camp in a private 260,000 acre concession.

For the next two days enjoy unparalleled game viewing by vehicle or on foot, water safaris in mokoros (traditional dugout canoes) under the watchful eye of expert guides. At Stanley's one is able to participate, (at an extra fee) in an elephant activity and so experience the physical presence and individual personalities of these gentle giants. A rare experience of building a relationship between elephant and man that one will long cherish and never forget.

Day 07: Monday
After a final game activity of your choice you will depart in your charter aircraft for Maun where you board BP211 to Johannesburg, arriving in time to connect with your international flight home. This tour can also be done in reverse departing Maun and returning from Tuli.

Our Botswana Safaris can also be extended for an overnight at Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.
