BIG MAMMALS TOUR

DAY 1 Monday:  Arrival in Libreville, meet and assistance at the airport for a transit flight to Omboué at 07H30 then transfer to Loango Lodge at Iguela by a four-wheel drive car. Lunch and first excursion in the national park - Dinner. During the dry season there is the possibility (with a supplement) to stay in AKAKA swamp camp, 70 km south Iguela, where the games are gathering in search of water.
Optional: From Omboué, transfer to Petit Evengue Island where an experience of reinsertion of a gorilla family is led. Visit the site. Lunch. Departure for Sainte Anne mission, then transfer to Iguéla through the beautiful and birdy Mpivié River. Arrive at dusk.

DAY 2 Tuesday:  Departure in the heart of Loango to Louri or Tassi close to the beach in order to spot the big mammals walking around.

DAY 3 Wednesday:  Day in the National Park, game drive and kayak safari, night at the Lodge

DAY 4 Thursday:  Visit of the lagoon, the village and the coast

DAY 5 Friday:  Transfer to Omboué for a flight back to Libreville, then transfer to Tropicana restaurant on the beach in Libreville. Free afternoon. In the evening transfer to the train station for a departure to Lope National Park (21H30/02H00), then transfer to Lope hotel.

DAY 6 Saturday:  Morning: rest and relax near the swimming pool. Afternoon game drive in Lope National Park looking for buffalos, elephants, antelopes, monkeys, birds. Night at the Lope hotel.

DAY 7 Sunday:  Morning: walking safari, spotting small animals and observing tracks, nests and drops. Afternoon game drive in the savannas.

DAY 8 Monday:  Transfer to Mikongo camp at 8h00 from the hotel by 4 wheel drive car (1h30). Mikongo, deep in the forest, it is a research centre for primate studies. Briefing about forest walks and environment. After lunch walk in the forest looking for chimpanzees, black colobus, gorillas if lucky, and other forest mammals, monkeys and birds.

DAY 9 Tuesday:  Complete day walk in forest.

DAY 10 Wednesday:  Walk in the morning. Lunch and transfer to Lope hotel . Overnight.

DAY 11 Thursday:  Excursion with motorised dugout canoe on the river to visit an important archaeological site of rock engravings. Train back to Libreville at 16h00 arriving at 20h30 then transfer to hotel Tropicana.

DAY 12 Friday:  Day at leisure and at night transfer to the airport for your international flight.

Hotels, lodges and camps:

TROPICANA: is a simple and small hotel located on the beach and not far from the airport.
Rooms with shower/toilets and air conditioning, good restaurant.

LOPE HOTEL: Charming place on the banks of the river with wooden bungalows and swimming pool. Comfortable rooms with shower / toilet and air conditioning.

MIKONGO: 6 rustic wooden bungalows and a dining hall, private bush shower and toilets.

LOANGO LODGE: Recently rebuilt, this very comfortable and charming lodge offers 10 bungalows with toilets and shower, hot water, air conditioning. Meals served in the lagoon restaurant.

LOURI/AKAKA: rustics tented camps. Outside bush toilets and shower.

Prices include:
All transfers, transports, domestic flights, accommodation, meals (except in Libreville and in the train), excursions, local guides in the parks and entry fees.

Do not include:
Drinks, tips, personal insurance and visa

Prices are valid at the time being. Any increase of costs of carriers, hotels and lodges will be added as long as the total payment of the trip has not been completed.
